ADVANCED EVENT MASSAGE WORKSHOP

Day 1 – Advanced Event Massage Management (2 hours)

Liability/Legal Issues (e.g., informed consent)
Venue/Environmental considerations
Therapist considerations( e.g., attire, hydration/nutrition, injury prevention, marketing, student issues)
Intake (Forms, Assessments)
Floor Supervision (time management, breaks, supervision tips, emergencies)

Common Participant Illnesses and Injuries (30 min)
CHECK-CALL-CARE
Hyperthermia (heat cramps, heat exhaustion, heat stroke)
Hypothermia (mild, moderate)
Dehydration (mild, moderate, severe)
Hyponatremia
Musculoskeletal injuries (e.g., cramps, blisters, strains, DOMS)

Cautions, Considerations, Contraindications

Day 2 - Advanced Event Massage Practical (4 hours)

The 2012 Practical will be held at the Bataan Memorial Death March 25, 2012, White Sands Missle Range, Las Cruces, NM. Each participant will have the opportunity to practice floor supervision, intake and therapist scheduling skills based on the material from Day 1.
