How to Choose a Massage Therapy Program

Here are some questions to ask when deciding which massage therapy program to attend.

What is the current pass rate for the mBLEX  (Massage & Bodywork Licensing Examination) ?

What is the percentage of students who complete the program?

What is the percentage of graduates who take the mBLEX exam and obtain a license to practice
massage therapy?

How large are the classes?

How many teachers are in the program?

What is the teacher/student ratio for every class?

How much experience do the teachers have in the subjects they teach?

Are new students ever admitted to ongoing classes?

Is supervised hands-on training a large part of the entire program?

Will you begin with hands-on training at the very beginning of your education?

Do classes build in a comprehensive and progressive flow?

Will you be assigned a Faculty Advisor for the length of your training?

In technique classes is there always a lecture, a live demonstration followed by supervised practice?

Are videos/DVD’s ever used INSTEAD of live lecture and demonstration?

Do the anatomy classes have lots of hands-on learning to complement the lecture and visual aids?

Does the massage therapy program have a well-established, fully functioning clinic?

Is there always a teacher present during clinic hours?

Do you know anyone who has been to this massage therapy program and loved it?

If the program is more expensive than other licensed programs in the area, if so, what are you getting for the extra cost?

Does the school use professional recruiters?
