Massage Therapy School Program Overview
Crystal Mountain’s Massage Therapy School Program is Experiential and Flexible PDF Print E-mail
Our massage therapy school program is experiential with a focus on learning by doing. Students in our massage therapy school program continuously practice the skills they learn – and receive expert feedback on those skills from the faculty. Massage school program classroom hours are made up of lecture, discussion, and hands-on practice of a wide variety of massage therapy techniques. Our instructors introduce a variety of techniques in all hands-on classes, along with information regarding appropriate applications and contraindications.

Following these demonstrations, students work with each other and practice the techniques and treatments while our instructors provide one-on-one guidance. Our massage school program class schedule includes ample time for treatment exchanges and students are encouraged to integrate the various modalities they learn into a style that becomes uniquely their own.

Massage Therapy School Program Philosophy PDF Print E-mail
At Crystal Mountain we honor the wonder of the human body and spirit in our massage therapy school program. Our celebration of the Body-Mind-Spirit connection is embedded in every moment of our massage therapy school program curriculum. Students who come to Crystal Mountain typically choose our school because of this holistic orientation, for our emphasis on service, and for our dedication to valuing diversity in our students and clients.

Many massage therapy school programs are now focusing on medical massage because of its marketability. At Crystal Mountain we have chosen to remain true to our original mission of preparing students to give therapeutic massages that are also nurturing and healing for the client psychically and emotionally as well as physically. In support of this goal, our massage therapy school program focuses on developing the following essential skills: ease of movement/knowledgeable touch, ethics, compassion, clarity of intention, awareness of the moment and presence within that moment. The teaching philosophy in our massage therapy school program includes recognition that learning is a process, not an event, that different students learn in different ways, and that a climate of encouragement makes learning both more fun and more effective. The focus in our massage therapy school program is on creating effective massage therapists that can serve and care for both themselves and their clients. We believe that:

Effective Technique +

Intuitive Skills +

Self Knowledge and Growth +

Practical Application Experience +

Business Education

 = A Successful Massage Practitioner.

We know that massage therapy can be a powerful catalyst for personal transformation as well as a valuable tool for maintaining good health since living systems are capable of incredible growth and change. The intention in our massage therapy school program is to facilitate that growth in our students in the best way possible.

Although there is a modern scientific foundation for our work, massage therapy is also an ancient healing art that we thoroughly enjoy sharing with our students and our communities. Each one of our students is given the tools they need in our massage therapy school program to meet the rigorous standards developed by our faculty and staff. Many students say that their time at Crystal Mountain changes their lives well beyond the skills they learn, or the transition they make into a new career.

Faculty Supervision PDF Print E-mail
Our faculty is outstanding. Many have graduated from Crystal Mountain and so understand the personal growth process students undergo during our massage therapy school program. All our teachers have their own massage practices, working with private clients. This creates an environment in our school that is up-to-date and practice-oriented.

While every member of our faculty and administrative staff is available to our students, each student is assigned a specific faculty advisor to work with privately, outside of class. Several times throughout the massage therapy school program each student provides a treatment for their advisor to demonstrate his/her skills for evaluation. The instructor is then able to provide expert feedback based on first-hand experience with the student’s massage skills. Students say these advisor treatments are an incredible way to explore their strengths and weaknesses as massage therapists. Because at Crystal Mountain we believe so much in the value of feedback from experienced practitioners, our massage therapy school program includes regularly scheduled opportunities for such feedback, in addition to these advisor sessions. Our faculty also meets monthly to discuss student progress as well as to tailor our teaching methods for the particular needs of each student class.
